Our story
Helping young people prepare for independent futures.
Rooted in Ohio, Teen Start connects mentoring, practical education, and community support with opportunities for young people to grow.
Built around young people.
Teen Start began in Cleveland in 1996. Its community-based work has brought together life-skills education, mentoring, experiential learning, workforce preparation, and support for greater stability.
The organization’s annual report describes training, education, housing, and a spiritual foundation as four parts of its approach. The commitment is to equip young people with tools and support as they move toward adulthood.
A mission of confidence and independence.
Teen Start’s published mission focuses on the social-emotional development of children, teens, and young adults through life-skills education, mentoring, experiential learning, and cultural exposure. Its vision is for prepared, responsible, employable young people who contribute to rebuilding their communities.
A new connection through sport.
Through the New Vision Athletics collaboration, athletic training and mentoring connect with that broader youth-development mission. The collaboration operates from Minot and serves youth across North Dakota.
